“Natural Light” doesn’t mean uncontrollable light, or ‘we’ll fix it in lightroom” light. There are a million things you can do with natural light to enhance its presentation to and from the subject.
I am pretty handy around lighting of all kinds, but in my personal work I tend (these days) to look for natural light as often as possible. But my trunk is still filled with reflectors, shiny boards, white and black cards, scrims. cukis, and lots of stands and clamps.
Not ‘sloppy’ nor is it a ‘fear of strobes’ syndrome (another batshit crazy idea promoted by online marketers), it is a choice – a look both stylistic and emotional.
